ERIC LUX

Eric finished third in the 2012 American Le Mans Series P1 Drivers Championship. Driving a six-race partial season in the #20 Dyson Racing entry, he won P1 in the Baltimore Grand Prix and took home third place P1 points at Long Beach, Lime Rock, Mosport, Mid-Ohio and Road America.

Eric Lux comes by his speed naturally: his mother raced in the Firestone Firehawk sports car series when she was pregnant with Eric. At the age of sixteen, he became the first sixteen-year-old to finish the classic Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona and at seventeen, he was the youngest winner in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.

He is considered one of the more versatile and talented young drivers, carrying experience that belies his early 20’s age. He has raced over two dozen different race cars in a dozen series, achieving success in a wide variety of machinery including Prototypes, Sports Cars, Stock Cars and Karts.

Last year he won the American Le Mans Series LMPC Championship with two wins and four podiums and also won the Rookie of the Year. The road to those honors started when he was thirteen years old. He raced in six different Karting classes, taking home two first place trophies, two second place, and three third place honors in four years. Unlike some drivers who become instructors as their carriers wind down, Eric spreads his talent as a driver coach in a number of organizations including the Monticello Motor Club, Porsche Club of America, the Historic Sports Car Racing series and Sports Car Vintage Racing.

Before Long Beach, Eric said that “this is a dream come true for me. A year ago, I would not have believed I would be about to embark on this new chapter. I am thrilled to be working with Mike Marsal. He and I have worked together in the past. I think this is going to be a large turning point in his career. And to be driving for Dyson Racing - there is really nothing better when you think about American sport car racing: Dyson Racing is the first name that comes to your mind. I remember being a kid watching Dyson cars race around the track and am very much savoring the fact that I have this opportunity to be here.”

Chris Dyson added, "We welcome Eric to the team. He possesses the commitment needed to be successful both on and off the track. Eric did a superb job to capture the LMPC title last year. I was keeping an eye on him and in the midst of a tough title fight, he was able to match or better his rivals and keep his composure down the stretch. We like his approach. There are some drivers that have a built-in aura of success and Eric has that.” Third place in the championship in his first season racing the top-tier P1 cars bares testimony to his abilities.
